Rossignol Design

Larry Rossignol started out drawing Rat Fink on tee shirts in grade eight, often earning as much as twenty five cents per shirt. Magic marker became pen and ink drawings and calligraphy and soon nurtured an interest in design. Larry earned his way through university designing posters and flyers for concerts and lectures. Larry has degrees in psychology (BA 1975) and law (LLB 1980) from Queen’s University at Kingston and is possibly Toronto’s only graphic designer with a law degree. He was the recipient of the Tricolour Award in 1978, which is the highest non-academic prize at Queen’s., awarded annually for outstanding contribution to university life.

In 1981, as an aspiring designer but with no design school experience or credentials, Larry stumbled into the emerging world of computer graphics. This was long before the Macintosh or even the Postscript language. As an early adopter of computerized graphic solutions during the eighties and early nineties he was considered a pioneer in the use of electronic arts solutions and spoke frequently at industry gatherings and at colleges and universities.

Larry Rossignol founded his graphic design business in 1986 and has provided design solutions now for over twenty years.

As a long time supporter of the arts in Toronto, Larry is the founder and artistic director of Fringe Jazz Toronto and the Distillery Jazz Festival and presented over 400 jazz performances from 2002 to 2005. He also sits on various arts organization boards and award juries.

Larry is married to dancer, choreographer and musician Julia Tassonyi-Rossignol and has three children: Alexander (Sandy), Arthur and Reka.
